The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 works with a Samsung Exynos 9 Octa 8895 octa-core processor 1.7GHz and comes with 6GB of RAM. The phone includes 64 GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 256 GB using a microSD card. When it comes to cameras, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 includes a 12 megapixel main camera on the back and an 8-megapixel self-timer facing forward. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 runs on Android 7.1.1 and is powered by a non-removable 3300mAh battery. It measures 162.50 x 74.80 x 8.60 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 195.00 grams.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is a smartphone with dual SIM (GSM and GSM) that supports Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, USB OTG, headphones, 3G and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). The sensors in the phone include compass magnetometer, proximity sensor, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope and barometer. Part of what you get for that extra size is two rear cameras instead of one. Samsung is using the most popular two sensor formula with the same resolution behind lenses of different focal lengths: a “standard” field of view and another that is about twice as long with a narrow field of view. However, they are not the same sensor, and the longer lens has a narrower aperture from f / 2.4 to f / 1.7 than the main camera, which means it leaves in less light.
You probably understood that the Galaxy Note 8 is extremely similar to the Galaxy S8 + released earlier this year. This is definitely true. Note 8 is only a couple of millimeters larger in its overall external dimensions, and its 6.3-inch screen is only larger than the GS8 + 6.2-inch screen, although the Note 8 screen is a bit lighter . Internally, the only change is the extra RAM of Note 8, now up to 6GB from 4GB, and its battery less than 3300mAh at the 3500mAh of the GS8 +. Of course, there are two rear cameras in Note 8, but we’ve covered it already.
Everything else is identical. The materials and the quality of the construction, although excellent, have not changed. The Galaxy Note 8 has slightly sharper corners that give it a more compact look, but that’s a lot smaller. The charging technology, ports, speaker and call quality are the same. So if you have a Galaxy S8 +, you should not consider upgrading to the Galaxy Note 8. But if you are on a different phone and want a higher Galaxy, these phones should be stuck in your consideration, you just know that you get about 90% of the same phone in both cases.
In practice, the second camera offers an additional trigger option and something more useful. When you zoom in, if you are recording photos or videos, the software will automatically switch to the longer lens so you do not lose the resolution. The result? Better photos and videos with less noise. You can also press the “2X” button to switch to the long lens, which gives you a narrower field of view and a completely different look than the capture of a “normal” smartphone. It works especially for macros as long as it has enough light.
For all this massive size, the battery capacity of Note 8 is quite conservative at 3300mAh. As noted, it is actually smaller than the Galaxy S8 + and Note 7 (ahem), and the same size as smaller phones like the LG G6 and the OnePlus 5. With a super efficient processor and display, the battery life of Note 8 it’s good; but it’s not necessarily great.
In our tests as part of our review, we found that Note 8 could help you spend an entire day, even with heavy use, but there would be nothing in the tank in doing so. Raising up to 16 hours of use of the phone with only 3300mAh of battery is very good, and probably enough for most people given its typical usage. But do not get an exceptional battery life on a note, something for which the line has been known for a long time, can be a little disappointing for those who are upgrading from a previous model.
